2006 Jim Barry Clare Red

Peter Barry and his family are continuing the work begun by his father, the late Jim Barry, a pioneering vigneron of the Clare Valley. If you haven't been to Clare then it's time to back your bags, as it's one of Australia's most achingly beautiful places for growing grapes. Highlights of the Jim Barry portfolio are the shiraz (with the flagship Armagh Shiraz leading the way) and some very impressive riesling from the Florita vineyard.

This wine turned the heads of our tasting panel last night when its identity was revealed. Firstly, it's a pretty smart entry level red. Secondly, it's got much more age than you'd expect of a wine at the price and looks all the better for it. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it's been sourced entirely from the Barry estate vineyards in Clare.

The 2006 Jim Barry Clare Red is a shiraz (70%) cabernet (30%) that has ripe sweet redcurrant, mulberry and blackberry flavours, is silky smooth, medium-bodied with reasonable richness and concentration and a dry, earthy finish. It's good current drinking and a bargain at the price.

Hello,

I'd like to arrange a link from your website; SITE. Could you advise me on how this can be arranged, e.g. donation required for developers, etc.?

Look forward to your response.

Thanks.

James
