Jacobs Creek Blanc de Blancs Brut Cuvee
Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 10:20PM If you're looking for decent quaffing bubbly, here are a couple worthy of consideration. This and its sibling, Jacobs Creek Chardonnay Pinot Noir, are the best Jacobs Creek bubblies in three years. I'd much prefer that Australian wines be labelled as Aussie wines not dressed up with French names - even if Pernod Ricard owns the brand. Why this isn't called Jacobs Creek Sparkling Chardonnay, I don't understand. Enough said. As the French name, blanc de blancs, suggests this is made only from chardonnay grapes, has yeasty, biscuity flavours, a lively palate and a refreshing finish.
With the Jacobs Creek Chardonnay Pinot Noir (also $13.95) I particularly like the intense bready, yeasty flavours of this Chardonnay Pinot as well as its soft, gentle, creamy texture, bound together by bold natural acidity that zings.
Rating: Bloody Good
Cost: $ 13.95
Wide availability in all Australian states.
