2007 Chemin des Papes Cotes du Rhone

I've done a couple of imported tastings for Quaff this week and seen some very good wines, none better than this gem imported by Dan Murphys. Frankly, it stood out in the tasting for its purity of fruit, ripe primal flavours and sheer delicious qualities. When the panel learnt how much it cost, we were astounded. This is great buying. The 2007 Chemin des Papes has wonderful Provencal perfumes of dried herbs, blackberry, brambles and redcurrant flavours, is richly concentrated with velvety texture and wonderful succulence. There's a savoury, minerally edge especially on the finish that adds complexity. Quaff on!

Rating: Bloody Good

Cost: $ 9.95
