2008 Kirrihill Clare Valley Shiraz
Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11:40AM Kirrihill is based in the Clare, where it is one of the Valley's largest producers. It sources fruit from that region and the Adelaide Hills. This comes from three Clare vineyards - incidentally from two in the north of the region and one from the southern reaches. Some tastings for Quaff are harder than others and I'm happy to report that this shiraz tasting showed up some very impressive quaffing reds. I found the 2008 Kirrihill Clare Valley Shiraz delightfully aromatic with ripe sweet redcurrant and blackberry flavours, fleshy, almost slippery texture, and balanced fine tannins. There some substance too, so although it's made for early drinking you'll find richness and concentration. Our information said $12.95 but the website says it's $15 a bottle. I'm expecting you'll find it for a good price under $15.
